InHouse Wills deals with estate planning and administration, which includes creating Wills and Lasting Power of Attorney.

 

We collect personal data relevant to those individuals who ask for our advice about these topics or to draft related documents. We also gather contact information for individuals who are part of businesses connected with us. It is important to InHouse Wills that all this personal data is handled appropriately at all times.

 

Information Collection and Use

The majority of data will be collected via face-to-face meetings, but can be supplemented by online meetings, telephones calls, emails and also information from publically available sources such as HM Land Registry. We gather information about yourself (the client) which will include an outline of your financial situation and a limited view of relevant health information. We also record the decisions that you make for drafting documents etc. We need this information in order to deliver the services that you have contracted for us to provide.

 

In addition we have a legitimate interest in gathering information about your family and friends that you need to consider as part of your planning. This includes, but is not limited to, everyone who is mentioned in your Will or other documents that you instruct us to create for you. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the consent of the people concerned to pass their information on to us. We may also retain basic details of anyone who witnesses signatures on these documents.

 

We gather contact information via the website if you choose to make contact in that manner. We do not undertake any automatic processing of your data. We do not use contact information for marketing purposes, unless you give us explicit consent; such consent can be withdrawn at any time.

 

Data Retention

We have a legitimate interest is retaining this personal data, for up to 6 years after the death of a client. We will assume that you have passed away by the age of 110, unless we are aware of clear indications to the contrary.

 

If you have contacted us but not gone beyond an initial enquiry we will retain your information for up to a year. Contact details for individuals associated with relevant businesses will be retained for as long as a normal business interest exists.

 

You have rights under Data Protection legislation, including a right to ask for information to be erased. However that right might be restricted by our contractual or legal obligations for the services that have been provided.

 

Data Security

Information will be held securely. Where a client selects a service that needs the involvement of other professionals we will share only necessary data with them. We will share data with other third parties only if authorised by you or as required by law.
