Lasting Power of Attorney
Creating a Lasting Power of Attorney is a significant process. The InHouse service INCLUDES
- Advising on LPA-Property & Financial Affairs and on LPA-Health & Welfare.
- Drafting the LPA documents (Parts A, B & C), according to your specifications.
- Reviewing the document with you and witnessing your signature on Part A.
- Providing the Part B certification.
- Arranging the signatures of your attorney(s) on Part C.
- Drafting the registration documents, ready for you to send to the Office of the Public Guardian.
LPA-Property & Financial Affairs and LPA-Health & Welfare are two totally separate documents.
- For a single LPA for one person, the InHouse fee is £300
- For both types of LPA for one person, the InHouse fee is £400
- For a single LPA for each member of a couple, the InHouse fee is £400
- For both types of LPA for each member of a couple, the InHouse fee is £600.
If you want to draft the LPAs yourself and need a qualified professional just to provide the Part B certification then InHouse will do that - based on an hourly rate of £60 per hour (minimum charge £30).
Remember, any LPA document has to be registered before it can be used. The Office of the Public Guardian currently charge up to £130 per document being registered (OPG fee can be subject to change). Thus, to register one LPA for one person the OPG fee is up to £130 - to register both types of LPA for a couple (i.e. 4 documents) the total OPG fee is up to £520. However, these registration fees may be reduced by the OPG or even completely exempted in some situations.
